Get the Remora App
Remora installs straight from your browser — there is nothing to download from an app store. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen, like any other app, with notification badges on the icon.
iPhone & iPad
Use Safari. Chrome, Firefox and in-app browsers on iOS cannot add apps to the home screen.
-
Open Safari
If you are reading this in another app — Instagram, Gmail, Messages — tap the … or compass icon and choose Open in Safari first.
-
Go to www.remorasocial.com
Type it in the address bar at the top (or bottom) of Safari and load the homepage.
-
Tap the Share button
It is the square with an arrow pointing up. On newer iPhones it sits in the bar at the bottom of the screen; on iPads it is in the top right.
-
Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
The share sheet has a long list of actions. Swipe up through it until you see Add to Home Screen next to a small plus icon.
-
Tap “Add”
Name it Remora (or anything you like), then tap Add in the top right.
-
Open Remora from your home screen
The Remora icon is now on your home screen. Open it from there — not from Safari — so it runs full screen and can show notification badges.
-
Allow notifications
The first time you open it, tap Allow when iOS asks about notifications. That is what puts the unread count on the icon for new messages, birthdays and events.
Don’t see Add to Home Screen? You are almost certainly not in Safari, or you are in a Private browsing tab. Switch to a normal Safari tab and try again.
Android
Use Chrome (Samsung Internet and Edge work too, with slightly different wording).
-
Open Chrome
If you are reading this inside another app, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Open in Chrome first.
-
Go to www.remorasocial.com
Type it in the address bar and load the homepage.
-
Watch for the install banner
Chrome often shows an Install app or Add Remora to Home screen prompt near the bottom. If you see it, tap it and skip to the last step.
-
Otherwise tap the menu
That is the three dots in the top right of Chrome.
-
Tap “Add to Home screen”
Depending on your Chrome version it may read Install app or sit under Add to Home screen. On Samsung Internet, open the menu and choose Add page to → Home screen.
-
Confirm with “Add” or “Install”
Keep the name Remora and confirm. The icon lands on your home screen.
-
Open Remora and allow notifications
Launch it from the home screen icon, then tap Allow when Android asks about notifications so you get badges for new messages, birthdays and events.
Nothing in the menu about installing? Make sure you are on www.remorasocial.com in a normal (not Incognito) Chrome tab, then reload the page.
